GOLD COAST LICENSEE ACCORD

Partnerships in Best Practice

The Gold Coast LICA Accord (Accord) is designed to promote the commitment of licensees as part of their contribution to the community. It does this by establishing best practices in the liquor industry that result in a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons, staff and the public.

The local community reacts to concerns directly attributable to alcohol related anti-social behaviour and LICA seeks to proactively reduce the likelihood of this behaviour occurring. It also believes that the LICA Accord can be integrated to complement other community safety strategies.

LICA is of the opinion that this Accord and adoption by licensees will maintain and enhance the Gold Coast community’s confidence in the liquor industry by promoting a set of principles that all licensees will be required to implement in order to improve safety and amenity. These principles may be additional to the regulatory obligations placed upon licensees under the Liquor Act 1992

The LICA Accord is for all licensees. It is not limited to late traders, nightclubs or hotels. LICA recognises that not all licensees will feel that all of the proposed best practices within the Accord relate to their operations, for example, security staff provisions. However, the spirit of, and commitment to, the LICA Accord should be considered by any responsible and community minded business that holds a liquor licence of any description.
